GCA BackPack Food Program

Positively impacting childhood hunger the Grayson County Alliance is serving 275+ students a year with food support on the weekends. The BackPack Food Program is funded by GCA and a key component to helping children in our community.

Students struggling with food insecurity are at a greater risk for missing meals on the weekends when the school lunch isn't available. Getting food into the backpacks of hundreds of hungry students each week is a priority for the Alliance.

This program is needs based. GCA partners with the Family Resource Centers in the school system to identify those children at risks for food insecurity. We provide the snack bags of food for students  pre-school through high school and the schools  distribute the food weekly.

Funding for the program is made possible by the generous giving of our BackPack Buddies. As a BackPack Buddy individuals and companies help GCA continue to support hundreds of at risk kids.

Becoming a BackPack Buddy is simple and affordable .35 cents a day, $10 a month, or $120 annually sponsors one student for the entire school year.
